The 8th Grade Bands from Horace Mann and John Muir middle schools gathered at John Muir to participate in a Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) Festival Clinic. Each band played music from the WSMA list followed by a learning session with local educator and performer, Charlene Kennebeck.

The purpose of the festival clinic is to improve students' music performance through assessment, increase students' understanding of music literature and music concepts, motivate students to continue studying music, establish standards of excellence in music performance, and to provide the opportunity to learn and play from other qualified musicians. It is a learning experience for students both in performing and critical listening/evaluating. The Horace Mann band is led by David Farmer, and the John Muir band is led by Sarah Pisca.
