Assessment Information

ACCESS for ELLs® stands for Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State for English Language Learners and is designed to measure English language proficiency. It is a large-scale test that addresses the World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) Consortium’s English Language Proficiency Standards that form the core of Wisconsin’s approach to instructing and testing English language learners.

b.e.s.t. stands for behavior, emotional, and social traits. The b.e.s.t. is a research-based screening tool designed to provide teachers with insight into their own perspective of individual student's behavior, emotion, and social adjustment within the classroom.  Suggested interventions are built into the system so that the diverse social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students can be accommodated and supported.

Forward Exam 3-8 & 10
The Forward Exam is designed to gauge how well students are doing in relation to the Wisconsin Academic Standards.  These standards outline what students should know and be able to do in order to be college and career ready. The Forward Exam is administered online in the spring of each school year at:
grades 3-8 in English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics,
grades 4 and 8 in Science 
grades 4, 8, and 10 in Social Studies.

The Forward Exam is a high quality, research-based, and affordable assessment that meets Wisconsin’s expectations. It is a customized assessment with innovative item types that includes test items reviewed and approved by Wisconsin educators.

MAP (Measures of Academic Progress)
The MAP test is an adaptive, computerized assessment offered in reading, language usage and math and is administered to all second grade students.

Report Cards - District and State
As part of the state accountability system, reflected in Wisconsin’s approved 
ESEA Flexibility Request, the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) produces report cards for every district and school in Wisconsin.

Terra Nova InView
The InView test is a norm-referenced assessment of reading, language and math that's administered to students in second grade.

WISEdash (
Wisconsin Information System for Education)
WISEdash is a data portal that uses "dashboards" or visual collections of graphs and tables, to provide multi-year education data about Wisconsin schools.
